We are deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Damian Le Bas.
With his artwork Safe European Home? as well as the exhibition Romani History X, Damian made a significant contribution to both the 1st and 3rd Berliner Herbstsalon. Together with his wife Delaine Le Bas, Damian was responsible for the painting and artwork in the production Roma Armee, which premiered at the Gorki earlier this season. Damian was the soul of Roma Armee and a role model of artistic activism fighting against racism and antiziganism.
On Saturday, December 9, Damian passed away unexpectedly. We have lost a great artist and inspiring fellow campaigner, a sensitive and warm-hearted friend.
Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Delaine and his son Damian James Le Bas.
