ROMA RIGHTS

“Damian was... a role model of artistic activism fighting against racism and antiziganism.”

– Shermin Langhoff

Damian Le Bas confronts human rights issues head on, becoming the voice of the "Gypsy Revolution" by taking back the word and weaving it into his rich tapestry of an ideal Gypsyland Europa. His works document atrocities his people have faced through "ethnic cleansings" and anti-immigration policies that affect Roma populations.

All aspects of his work, from his maps, paintings and drawings, to large-scale installations and biennales, are fighting for recognition of the plight of his community.
